Setting up the config file and starting the SU2 calculations is usually followed by a silent prayer for convergence to an acceptable solution. See this video for a quick outline on how to plot SU2’s residual data and this one to check on the velocity profiles and streamtraces – use similar procedures for anything else you want to monitor. Remember that a watchdog can help update both automatically.

Not all CFD data comes from a grid: you could have data that’s just a collection of values at specified coordinates. Tecplot considers this data “unorganized”, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visualize it. See this video for on outline on how to triangulate such data. Pointwise’s approach makes different adaptive refinement methods possible. You can import a grid file together with BCs, as detailed in this video. When coupled with the import of Point-Cloud-Data files, as detailed in the previous issue, automating both these steps opens up a novel route to grid adaptation as we’ll see in an upcoming issue.
