Qt is used for platform-independent UIs. PyQt, the Python library for Qt that is free for non-commercial use, has another advantage: you can create an executable from your Python code. This means your colleagues can use your Python scripts without having to install Python themselves. When Fred Brooks wrote that “complexity … is an essential property, not an accidental one” he was talking of software. That applies to grid generation, redoubled. There are many “minor” settings that have a significant impact on the grid so if you’re not using Pointwise’s Environment Files, you’re missing quite a bit.
