Comparing Simulation and Test

Getting reliable results from an experiment can be as challenging as getting them from a simulation, so using the two in tandem to arrive at “correct” insights is a well-established practice.

This 48 minute video covers a lot of ground: from reading and overlaying different types of data to automation. It’s well worth watching because of, not despite, its length. Given all models are wrong, make the most of Tecplot to make sure your models are useful!

Overset Grids

"The key element is in arbitrary overlap"

Pointwise has some excellent techniques that work for overset grids – see this video for example – but requires access to solver-data for assembly and remediation.

As Cadence works towards integrating Pointwise and Numeca’s products and making the most of their complementary strengths, take a look at this 13 minute video for an illustration of what the solver can do and how.

Know Your Meshes

"highly comfortable due to its technology"

The tip-of-the-hat to Pointwise cited above is not the only reason this article is worth a look. It covers a fair amount of ground while doing a good job of walking that fine line between jargon-overload and simplicity-overdone.

Pointwise doesn’t create the cut-cell grids that the article mentions, but Cadence CFD has you covered if that’s what you’re looking for: see the The World Solar Challenge brief at this set of case-studies for an example.
