This short paper from DLR discusses something every CFD user has experienced: the evolution of CFD from being a stand-alone discipline to being a part of a complex multi-disciplinary simulation task. The 2010 paper features Python serving as the glue between diverse software components. Python’s utility for CFD covers much more, of course, as discussed here, here, and here.
