Revisiting Output-Based Mesh Adaptation

Some errors are more important to different engineering metrics than others

Grid adaptation can mean different things: with overset grids, for instance, it can mean modifying the grid to improve overlap. More common use involves error estimates to automatically modify critical regions without a priori knowledge of the solution. This article is from the perspective of the grid – for instance the importance of access to the geometry. Bonus resources: Onera M6 example and an adjoint-based adaptation example.
