Delaunay insertion and Advancing Front methods have been the mainstays of grid generation for a while now. Given the advantages of anisotropic cells for CFD, exemplified by Pointwise’s TRex, there’s another option that works particularly well for surface grids: right-angles triangles instead of equilateral triangles leads to better combination into quads.
